This season is what I like to call an “in-between.” We’re in between fall and winter, we’re wrapping up one year and getting ready for the next. It can be hard to enjoy the in-betweens when you’re excited (or anxious) about what’s next, or if you miss what’s behind you. So, while you’re in these in-between spaces, take some time to breathe. Meditation is especially great for this! Let yourself get quiet in preparation for winter’s coming quietness, and allow the changes that are coming to just unfold before you.
Shifting Gears
On top of being an in-between time, November is also the beginning of the holiday season which is pretty busy for most of us. That makes taking the time to breathe even more important. It allows you to shift the gears and relax in the middle of what can feel like a chaotic time. The holidays can easily become a rush from one gathering to another, or a race to find the perfect presents at the store. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Time flies by – I’m sure I’m not the only one wondering how it’s the end of the year already! – but we don’t have to get swept away by it. Taking time to slow down is a great antidote to the busyness the upcoming season can bring.
Now is the Next Best Time to Relax
This is the perfect time to relax, to just breathe and meditate so that you can fully enjoy the changes that are coming: the changes in the leaves, the seasonal coffee lattes at your favorite coffee shop, and all of the other changes headed our way. Don’t let these things pass by unappreciated. As you meditate and relax, take some time to consider what changes you’re looking forward to, how you can fully enjoy them when they come, and what you can enjoy in the present moment. It will make this in-between time so much more valuable!
